A Forgery of Roses

By Jessica S. Olson
377 pages
Hardback
Owlcrate
YA Fantasy

Super engaging book. Read the whole thing today; didn't want to put it down.

Magic, greedy people, questionable motives, possible haunting, murder mystery, and a lot of talk about paint.

It didn't go where I expected it to, which I appreciate.

Really enjoyed this book - it's a stand-alone novel - and I'd probably read it again another time.

Plus it's gorgeous! Look at the beautiful foil stamping on the front!

Look at the red dyed pages!

Look at the cute rose on the back and the pretty inside of the dust jacket!

And it's signed. Yay!

Only A Monster

Overall I really enjoyed this book.

There was a bit of a moment in the first third where I thought it was about to go really cliché and I wasn't sure that I was going to keep enjoying it.

But, I'm glad I stuck with it! I really liked the characters, and the plot was satisfying. The ending left opportunity for a sequel, but the book was satisfying as a stand alone novel.

Bravely

By Maggie Stiefvater
367 pages
Hardback
Ordered signed from One More Page Books

So, yes, sequel to Brave, the animated movie.
I o my saw Brave one time, in the theatre. I remember crying because my child and I were fighting and it felt too close, too real.
I haven't seen it again.

But...
I'm unabashedly obsessed with Maggie Stiefvater's books.

And the local bookstore lets people pre-order signed copies.

So, I had to get it.

And it was great! I even teared up a little once or twice.

You don't have to remember the movie to enjoy this book.
