Honestly, I feel pretty meh about the book. It was fine. 

Late night edit: I just realized that I kept trying to make her Rogue. Like, from X-Men.

Overall I really enjoyed this book.

There was a bit of a moment in the first third where I thought it was about to go really cliché and I wasn't sure that I was going to keep enjoying it. 

But, I'm glad I stuck with it! I really liked the characters, and the plot was satisfying. The ending left opportunity for a sequel, but the book was satisfying as a stand alone novel.
