This part made me laugh.

So I had to look up the Battle of Blair Mountain. Becuase I didn't know it.

The hardest part of a lot of things is the people. 

Hell is other people.
Overall, the book was relentlessly sad. I desperately wanted more plot sometimes - rather than an aimless recollection of a shitty life. 

But it was a beautiful book, and I'm glad I read it.
